Firefox is preparing to launch Firefox 3 and with this occasion they are also trying to set a world record for downloads in one day. Because I am a user of Firefox I “pledged” to download Firefox 3 in the day they will decide to release it. I have nothing to earn from this, it’s only for fun and maybe helping to set a world record.
Fun or not fun this is a great and unique way to launch a software and I suppose Firefox is getting a lot publicity.

Mozilla has now announced that the official launch date for Firefox 3 is June 17, 2008. Also, I agree that this is a unique way to release it and it will definitely be interesting to see how much publicity there will be.
